I got to spend the evening with the new man in my life.
I am head over heals in love.

Oliver, nineteen days old.

I really don't like how yellow everything seems when I photograph at night in my house without flash. I am hoping to take some natural light photos of Oliver in the next week or two. He is growing so fast.

One of my favorite things about being a Nanny is just watching the kids and trying to figure out what they are thinking when they do things the way they do them. Here are a few of those moments.

Chloe watched an entire episode of Dora with the bucket on her head.

She was actually going around the sit and spin this way

Lilly rode her tricycle like this all afternoon.

Kate has been on one kind of a team or another since she was four. When she couldn't play a sports any more she became a referee. Last year she joined University of Maryland Crew. Kate does not live on campus. She commutes 45 minutes everyday to school. This means that she leaves the house at 4:30 AM to go to practice in the fall and in the spring. I am so proud of the effort she puts into her new sport. I know she must love it to drag herself out of bed so early every single day while carrying a full load of classes and still working as a referee in the evenings and on weekends. In the fall the races are called Heads and have staggered starts so we don't actually get to see her rowing against another team. The winners are determined by times. Today was her first race of the season in Georgetown, on the Potomac River.

Headed out to the starting line.

Almost at the finish.

Jim, Lilly's Dad, had to turn the sprinklers on this evening when he got home from work. This made Lilly very happy. At first she was curious but cautious, it didn't take long for her to acclimate. Today, the last day of summer, Lilly had what may have been her first run through the sprinkler.

FINALLY!
Seven years ago Patrick bought this beautiful pram for me as an anniversary gift. I wanted it to push grandbabies in someday. Today I finally got to do just that. Oliver, Kate and I had a nice walk around the neighborhood.

Lilly wasn't feeling well on Friday so we had a "stay in your jammies day". She spent a lot of time on the couch with a pillow and blankets but she did perk up enough in the afternoon to teach Chloe Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Chloe is getting close to walking. She will take five or six steps towards a person and a few steps in between objects. I can not wait for her to be walking full time. It will be so much more fun to play out side or at the park when she can toddle after Lilly.

On September 18,1985 Patrick and I rushed into the county court house just before closing time and got married! Here we are at the same court house twenty four years later after spending the day in Annapolis taking engagement photos of Matt and Kate. (photo by Kate)

Today Oliver met his Grandpa and his Great Grandma. Patrick was in Houston on a business trip when Oliver arrived. When he finally got home last night visiting hours were over, we had to wait until today. Great Grandma was dressed and ready to go before I had even finished my coffee.

After a short nap Kate and I went back to the hospital and spent the afternoon with Ian, Christy and Oliver.

And baby makes three.

Happy Birthday Oliver!

6 pounds 14 oz 18.5 inches

Christy was amazing. Ian is on cloud nine. I am one happy Grammy!

Momma and baby are both doing well.

I am his Grammy and that makes me biased but I think he is absolutely beautiful!

The room was dimly lit so I had to use the flash. I am hoping to get some pictures in natural light this afternoon when I go back to the hospital.

Summer is over. Fall is my favorite season but this year I am a little sad to see summer go. School has started, bringing with it a new half day schedule for me, Labor Day has come and gone and the past few days have been remarkably cooler. Some of the trees have even begun to change colors. Soon we will have to pack our sandals away and pull out our jackets. I am not ready!

The last First Sunday. I have posted before about First Sunday Annapolis. The first Sunday of the month, May through September, there is an arts fair in downtown Annapolis. This past weekend was the last one until next spring. Labor Day weekend brought with it the unofficial end of summer.

We spent Sunday in Annapolis taking engagement photos of Matt and Kate. I definitely want to re-shoot. The lighting in downtown, especially on the pier, would be much nicer in the evening. The sun wouldn't be behind my subjects. Lesson learned. I also learned that I need a lot more experience working with people. I am use to capturing a moment not directing one. Even with family in a relaxed environment it is hard to get your subjects (and the photographer) to relax. I felt rushed since the streets were very busy. Every time we stopped to take a photo we were blocking traffic on the sidewalks. Here are a few of the shots I felt were acceptable.

The weather has been incredible this week, upper 70's, no humidity and bright blue skies full of big fluffy clouds. I could not imagine being trapped inside on such a day. One of the perks of being a Nanny is that when your handed a beautiful day you can head to the park, so we did.
