More snow!
It doubled my commute time this morning but was completely melted by the afternoon. I am not a big fan of the "S" word but if it has to happen I guess gone in a few hours is the best way.

My first assignment for film in my photography class was to take an object and put it somewhere it wouldn't normally be. Give it importance and photograph it with the lens at 50mm using the metered settings and then one stop up and down in either shutter speed or f stop. I have no idea how it came out on the film until we develop it but I did take a few shots with the digital.
Wish me luck with on film.
I have to admit that I looked at the back of the SLR more than once looking to see how the picture came out. It will take a bit to break that habit.

The class in for black and white film photography but the the color shots on digital were to cheery to not share just one.

The jar revisited...

I managed to collect enough shells in Florida to fill my apothecary jar.

Why are baby toes so darned cute?

Chloe is eating solids and loves to sit up in her highchair.

Happy Birthday Ian!

Every year for about the last 10-12 years he has had a cookie pizza instead of a cake.
A huge Cowboy cookie covered in melted chocolate and peanut butter chips
and miniature marshmallows.

Saturday, the day we had to head home, was cold and windy but I braved the beach for about 20 minutes. It was 45 degrees and I didn't bring a coat but the sun was shining and the waves were crashing. I just couldn't stay away.

I was going to photograph the wind blowing the palm tree when the umbrella took off.
This shot was taken from our balcony.

Sunrise on the beach.

Friday dawned gray and drizzling in paradise but that didn't keep me in the room. Patrick was sick and slept most of the morning so I went out on the beach and walked around town.

I really enjoyed the beach that morning. There were so many things to see.
Coconuts dotted the beach and seemed out of place without palm trees.

Birds of all kinds were sitting on the beach.

And interesting things had washed up on the shore.
These items washed up just like this, as if they were posing.

Thursday afternoon Patrick had to do a little work (this was a business trip for him) so I took a walk on the beach to take pictures and collect shells.

The beaches on Marco Island are covered in shells. it is actually hard to find a sandy spot and walking without shoes anywhere but at the water line can be uncomfortable.

I love the colors of the sail against the sky.

On the Gulf Coast the sunsets are something special.
The header of this blog is a sunset photo taken on Marco in 2006.
