For the past few years my best friend and I have spent my birthday weekend at her beach house. This was that weekend. On Friday night we headed to O.C. after work. We got to the house and turned the on the heat. It was too cold to be there so we did some thing I have never done. We went to a bar on Friday night. It is not so much that I have never gone to a bar on a Friday night... I have just never done it without my husband. I am not much of a drinker and since I got married when I was 17 the bar scene was just not part of my reality. This bar's specialty is an Orange Crush with fresh squeezed OJ.

It was pretty good.

Yesterday I found an apothecary jar to put my sea shells in. I have some from all the beaches I have been to in the past few years.

On the first Wednesday of every month one of the local malls has a family event. Jim Hossick sings and the kids dance. Since it was a rainy cold day here again we sang, danced, had lunch and played in PBK.

A cold and rainy day.

Four twelve piece puzzles in one box is very frustrating for a two year old (and her Nanny who must have pick up and sorted the pieces half a dozen times today.)

On Mondays Lilly has gym class at Rolly Pollies.

Lilly at Rolly Pollies.

Me (and Chloe) at Rolly Pollies.

There is a huge mirror on one wall. I took this photo using the mirror. Not the most flattering picture of me but this is how I spend a part of each day.... a baby on my back and a camera in my face.

In two weeks I will be going back to school. It has been 23 years since I took a class I was graded in. I will be taking Black and White Photography, a basic SLR course. I have always loved taking pictures and have finally decided to learn to do more than point and shoot. I will learn the basics of SLR photography and black and white film developing. My long term goals are in digital photography but starting at the beginning seemed appropriate. I have decided to try my hand at blogging my own photos after following a few 365 blogs. It seems like a fun way to document my progress. I treated myself to a new camera this Christmas, a Nikon D80. It is a HUGE leap from my last camera. I plan on taking it everywhere with me. Today I took it out shopping.

The fabric store always makes me feel happy. I am a fabric junky! Yes, I did buy a few yards. After JoAnn's I stopped by Goodwill. I haven't been there in forever and I needed some new books. I left without any books but I did find a Coach briefcase for $5. It was a little rough around the edges but with some leather cleaner and conditioner it will be beautiful.

Thats my daughter, Kate... who I think wants my new bag for her own.
