Thursday morning we left the Atlantic coast of Florida and head west to Marco Island. We took I75/Alligator Alley. It was neat. I unfortunately couldn't get a picture of the gators since stopping on the side of the road is not the best idea, but they really are sunning themselves on the water's edge right on the side of the road. I did snap a few photos from the car moving at 65 mph.

We got to Marco Island in time for lunch. This was our view as we dined poolside. I took over 200 pictures while we were on the island. I will post more tomorrow to catch up since I was unable to take my computer with me

Our first full day in Boca Raton/Deerfield Beach Florida Patrick had to work in the morning.
I spent that time pool side doing my homework.

Then we went to Deerfield Beach.

We went out on this pier. There were people fishing off of the pier and the view was beautiful looking back at the beach but the most amazing thing were the pelicans. They didn't care that you were there.

We also saw many of these beautiful blue blobs on the beach. I wasn't sure what it was until I looked it up later but I thought the color was beautiful against the seaweed it had washed up with...

The best thing about last Tuesday's snow was.....

the fact that I was headed for clearer skies!

I spent a quiet Sunday at home doing the usual things. It was cold outside but inside was toasty. I love having a wood stove to keep us cozy and warm.

My photography class started today.
At the beginning of class the professor's desk was neat and tidy but by the end there was such an odd assortment of things on the desk.

There were negatives in protective sleeves, a reel and lid from a developing tank, his camera and water bottle, different supplies for cleaning lenses and negatives, translucent items for next weeks assignment and these strange white plastic hands that if they had had batteries in them would have flashes multiple colors. This is going to be interesting.

Maryland is gray most of the winter. The last few days our temps were in the teens. Today we got to the low 30's so...

we definitely had to get outside! She lasted 30 minutes before we needed...

Hot cocoa!
Check out those red fingers... it was cold outside!

Last night my son, Ian, came over to celebrate Patrick's birthday.Do you ever get use to not seeing your kids everyday?

I was clicking away today...

Patrick and I met up with Lisa and her mom at Panera bread. I haven't seen her in months and it was a wonderful treat.

My nephew, Spencer, who was less then thrilled that I took his picture.

My sister's chandelier.

Kate took the next one...

This is blurry but I love the wild hair thing she has going on.

Patrick made a wonderful dinner tonight.
It was great to come home from work and not have to cook.

Yes, Chloe does get out of the baby carrier.
After sleeping more then one hour straight this afternoon Chloe was content to play on her own.
While she played with her toys I played with mine.

I spent some time today pulling my school supplies together. My photography class starts in 9 days and I wanted to see what I still need. I think I have everything but film. Film will wait until I find out what speed we will be shooting in. Oh yeah and the camera needs batteries !
I am glad I checked.

Since I got the new camera I have bought 2 camera bags.

The Tamrac Adventure 7 which is a camera bag in the bottom and a backpack on top. I love this idea for long days sightseeing or all day events but for daily use it is too big to carry with the diaper bag. It is large enough to carry the camera with a large lens, 2 or 3 additional lenses and a flash. There are straps available to carry your tripod and loads of pockets for storage. The top is large enough to carry a light jacket, a book, sun screen etc and there are side water bottle pockets. I haven't removed the tags yet because I can't decide if it is over kill or if I will grow into it and absolutely love it for day trips. I can fit both my digital and film cameras in the large bag right now since I haven't purchased any additional lenses. I would love your opinion.

I picked up the smaller Tamrac bag to carry daily, especially at work when I am carrying a diaper bag too. It is large enough to hold the camera with a large lens, one extra lens and a flash. It has a few small pockets too.

I did not take today's photo, Kate did. We met a friend for lunch today and Lilly wanted to ride in the stroller so I put Chloe in the Ergo. Meghan decided she wanted to try Lilly's "skateboard". We turned a lot of heads strolling through the mall like this.

Doesn't everyone come to work the day after their birthday and find this on the front door?!

I love my job!

Sunday afternoon was the drive home... I have a fear of bridges and to get to the beach we have to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge... twice!

I came home to a wonderful birthday dinner and my dear daughter baked two yummy cakes... one for me and one for my daughter in law, Christy. We share a birthday.

Connie and I spent most of Saturday working on unfinished quilts. It is always amazing how much we can accomplish on a sewing weekend. We both finished a quilt top.

In the afternoon when we needed a break from our sewing machines we went to Assateague. I LOVE the beach and Assateague has the added bonus of horses.

Meet George (that's what we called him).

He was so friendly he came over and put his head in the car.

We got to see a beautiful sunset.
